"Can you speak English?" Of course, you can speak because you are reading my paper. Today, English is the most popular language in the world as a international language. Generally, it is great evolution for us. We would be very comfortable if spoken language is only one. So, I came to the United States to learn English. When I was in Japan, English is required in middle and high school. So, I took English class for six years there. Therefore, English is very popular language in Japan. We see a lot of English letter if you walk in street of Japan. In addition, English is also required in elementary school today in Japan. I think that some other non-English spoken country also learn English as much as we do. Then, we can communicate each other even we each have different mother tongue. This is one of the advantages of the globalization. Everybody in the world can speak same language, same culture, and same sense of value.

However, sharing similar sense of value around the world has some advantages and disadvantages.some unbelievable things have happened in obscure corner of the world. According to Burton, "one world language is lost every two weeks when the last speaking member of that particular linguistic group dies" (Burton 127). Sharing value is good thing, and also we have been losing other value simultaneously. It means that some unique culture has been disappearing day by day. This is one of the disadvantages of globalization. I would like to see new things, but, if every place share similar sense of value, can I see new things? Now is in progress of globalization. In the future, I may
be able to see same sense of value around the world. Even now, we can see or get the product of international companies around the world. Spoken languages are about to have same problem.

In conclusion, globalization made some good and bad things. Now, globalization also occurs in spoken languages. English became the most dominant language in the world. Then, our life became more convenient to share same English. On the other hand, English has been destroying so many unpopular spoken languages little by little. If globalization happens continuously, there will be no meaning to go to other countries because everybody and every countries may have same sense of value, culture, and language. How do you think about it?

Nice stuff. I was born in America and I'm Lao, but I can't speak Lao that fluently, kinda sad isnt it?
Homogenization will kill diversification. I don't want everyone to be the same. It will be boring - yawn.
